BY PLANE

British Airways, British Midland and Air France (via Paris) have frequent services to the south of France. All flights on mainstream carriers from the UK to Marseille leave from Gatwick and those flights to Nice leave from Heathrow. All flights in the summer get very full so it is worth booking early.

Getting to and from Chateau Des Aspras from the UK has been made far easier in recent years with the rise of the budget airlines. All the 'low cost' airlines fly to either Nice or Marseille which are an hour and a half and an hour respectively from Correns.

Easyjet (www.easyjet.com or 08706000000) fly from Luton to Nice about six times a day and have now started a weekly service from Gatwick to Nice which they are bound to expand. They also fly to Marseille.

Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) fly to Carcasson which is about three hours drive from The Chateau.

Taxi's from the airport are hugely expensive even if they are pre booked. The Taxi service in Correns is generally as cheap as you will get costing around £100 to Nice airport and about £80 to Marsaille. It is worth hiring a car instead of taking a two way journey by taxi. A good tip to know when hiring a car is to avoid the car companies affiliated with the budget airlines as they usually have the longest queues. Remember that the hire car companies rarely have cars available beyond those pre-booked.

The telephone number for the Correns taxi service is 0033494595565 or 0033687798436.

On arriving in France it is possible to get a bus to and from Nice and Marsaille Airport to Brignoles (20 mins from Correns).

Marseille airport - Brignoles leaves at 12.30pm and gets to Brignoles at 01.55pm

Nice airport - Brignoles leaves at 12.00pm and arrives at Brignoles at 03.00pm.

Ted Jongma has all the details of the bus timetable going to the airports as well as train timetables from Nice to Les Arc.

BY TRAIN

It is now possible to get from London Waterloo to Marsaille in just under seven hours on The TGV! The Marseille train station is in Les Milles which is just under an hours drive from The Chateau. The service has just opened and Eurostar (www.voyages-sncf.com or 08705848848) are pricing the tickets comparably to the airlines.

BY CAR

Driving straight from London to Correns using the Eurotunnel takes up to fourteen hours door to door. Many guests suggest breaking up the journey with a nights break just west of Dijon in the Burgundy region.

PRIVATE JET

The nearest 'small airport' to the Chateau is just outside Cannes in Cannes Mandeleau tel: 0033493904040. It is available for both jets and small aircraft and airport fees are signifnicantly cheaper than Nice.
